Tanya was born in Lompoc, California, and when she was just a few months old, her dad’s job transferred him and the family to Stockton.
At the time, her parents were not serving the Lord. When Tanya was three, someone from Christian Life Center reached out to them. Tanya’s mom, Nancy, soon met Pastor Kenneth Haney, felt the love of God from him and was drawn to the church. Her mom and dad were both baptized in Jesus’ Name and received the Holy Ghost within a week, and their lives were never the same. When she was seven, Tanya was baptized and received the Holy Ghost also.
Tanya grew up listening to KYCC, and the songs and programs really helped her in her walk with the Lord. She attended and graduated from Stockton Christian Academy and received her AA at Christian Life College.
Tanya has a burden for lost souls and wants to see everyone saved. She regards her part-time work at KYCC, which includes answering phones and taking prayer requests, as truly a ministry. She feels like a counselor at times and wants to help people by pointing them to Jesus.
She met her husband Stanley in college, and they married in 1997. They have three great kids, Ryan, 14, Josh, 11 and Breanna, 8. She stays busy taking them to music lessons, karate, sports practices and games, but wouldn’t trade this crazy, busy schedule for a boring one.
Tanya and Stanley have worked in Children’s Ministry at Christian Life Center since they were newlyweds. They also direct “Ministry in Motion,” a group of kids which uses sign language, dowel rods and drama to bring songs to life and minister to others.
Tanya enjoys singing, scrapbooking, a good movie, playing games, watching the ocean waves crash on the rocks, sunsets (not sunrises so much; she’s not a morning person), and living in the moment. She homeschools her two younger children, does bookkeeping work, and tutors students who struggle with dyslexia.
She regards Jeremiah 29:11 her life verse: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
